Mikel Arteta is said to be keen to snap up midfielder Houssem Aouar from Lyon so he can build his team around the Frenchman.
Arsenal are believed to be closely monitoring Aouar, who is one of the most highly-rated talents in the Ligue 1.
Lyon are not keen to let one of their most prized assets leave.
And the club’s sporting director Juninho has confirmed that there have been discussions with Arsenal over Aouar as Arteta is a big fan of the 22-year-old.
ESPN claim that such is the Spaniard’s desire to sign Aouar, he is willing to build his whole team around the central-midfielder.

It’s thought that Arteta wants to play a 4-3-3 system with Aouar acting as the “pillar” of the formation.
Arsenal remain at the front of the pack of the club’s interested in the France U21 international, but Juninho’s recent comments made it seem like Aouar would be staying at Lyon for the time being.
“I get on very well with Edu [Arsenal technical director], we spoke on the phone. Aouar is really appreciated by Mikel Arteta,” Juninho told RMC Sport.

“Guendouzi was discussed during the call, he is a great player, but he is the wrong profile. We are not interested in that at all, we cut the conversation.”
Juninho also confirmed that Manchester City were interested in signing Aouar, but said he wasn’t sure if the player was ready for a club of their stature – or PSG’s.
“I think that has been happening directly with agents,” Juninho added. “We were not directly contacted. Maybe Vincent Ponsot (director general) was contacted by Manchester City, I am not sure.
