West Ham could terminate the contract of Jack Wilshere ahead of the new Premier League season.
The former Arsenal midfielder has failed to have the impact he would have desired at the London Stadium having joined in 2018.
The 28-year-old is in talks with the club over ending his deal a year early, which could free up wages for transfer target James Tarkowski.
Wilshere is thought to be earning around £100,000-a-week with the Hammers – and has failed to justify them after a string of serious injuries.

The former England midfielder said after a friendly earlier this summer: “First of all, it’s nice to finally get in front of the manager.
“When he first came, I had a few conversations with him and I got the feeling from him that he rated me, but I was still six weeks away from being able to get in front of him and show him what I can do.
“That’s all good in training, but really and truly you want to be doing it in games and earning his trust.
Jack Wilshere has been training hard ahead of the new Premier League season
“It’s a good start for me to get back in training and in front of the manager and his coaching staff and show them what I can do.
“I know he’s been around for years and I’ve been around for years, so he sort of has an idea, but he’s never worked with me so it’s important I show him what I’m about, how I train and what I can bring to the team.”
Arsenal hero Ray Parlour said of the midfielder earlier this summer: “The most important thing is he needs to play football.
