John Stones encouraged to rejoin Everton or Arsenal with time up at Man City

Micah Richards believes John Stone’s time at Manchester City is up.

The ex-City defender believes Stones, 26, should look for a new club to help rescue his international career too.

Richards, who came through the youth ranks at City to star in the first team, believes current boss Pep Guardiola has lost faith in the central defender.

City have spent £41m on Nathan Ake so far this summer and are expected to buy another centre-back.

That would leave Stones, who featured in just 16 league games last season, even further down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

“In football, anything can happen but when a manager loses faith in you it’s very hard to get that back,” said Richards.

“And for me, when Stones is fit and he’s playing Eric Garcia, a 19-year-old boy ahead of you in one of the biggest games of the season, it looks like the writing is on the wall.

“And it’s very, very hard to come back from that.

“When Pep’s made his mind up with Yaya Toure or Joe Hart or Leroy Sane, it doesn’t look like there’s any coming back from that.

“I may be wrong, he could go in there and do a good job but the fact that he’s playing 19-year-olds ahead of him.”
