The Lilywhites haven’t won a major honour since their League Cup victory in 2008, and suffered a heart-breaking loss in the final of the Champions League in 2019 at the hands of Liverpool.

When asked to choose if he would rather play for Tottenham or retire, Ozil said on Twitter: ‘If I don’t want to win a cup, I should go there 🏆😉 #YaGunnersYa ❤.’
