‘Bring Partey and Aouar to the carpet!’ – Arsenal fans in meltdown over Emiliano Martinez bid

Arsenal fans have been reacting to reports that Aston Villa have made a new bid for Emiliano Martinez.

Having moved to Arsenal’s academy in 2010 after playing in Independiente’s youth ranks, Martinez had to wait until last season to finally make his mark in the Gunners’ first-team after Bernd Leno suffered an injury.

His impressive form prompted plenty of speculation over his future when Leno returns to fitness.

Last month, The Athletic reported that the Gunners were ready to cash in on the 28-year-old as he seeks to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming season.

Furthermore, the report stated that while the ex-head of football Raul Sanellhi had set an asking price of £20m, Martinez was hopeful the north London outfit would halve their valuation to £10m.

However, it would appear that the Gunners have refused to soften their stance.

According to an update from The Athletic, Aston Villa have made a second bid for Martinez, which is said to be closer to their £20million valuation.

In addition, the report states that Martinez will not be allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium until a suitable replacement is signed amid links to Brentford’s David Raya.
