Thomas Partey ‘likes’ Arsenal fan’s tweet amid Edu’s transfer talks with Atletico Madrid

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media after what they deemed to be a transfer hint from Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Gunners confirmed the signing of Dani Ceballos last week, with the Spain international re-joining on loan from Real Madrid for another season.

Ceballos’ arrival adds to the captures of Willian and centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, with Mikel Arteta’s side looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Next on Gunners boss Arteta’s list is understood to be a dynamic central midfielder to add some steel to Arsenal’s spine, despite the excellent partnership forged between Ceballos and Granit Xhaka.

Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey is a name that has been heavily linked with the Gunners for months, with Arsenal reportedly looking to sign the Ghana international.

Partey has established himself as one of the best holding players in Europe after stellar displays for Atletico in recent seasons, and Arsenal have already seen two bids reportedly rejected by the La Liga side.

Atletico have insisted that the midfielder will only leave should his £45million release clause be met, but reports claim Arsenal are attempting to negotiate a lower fee, with talks continuing to take place.

Nevertheless, Partey’s activity on social media has led to some Arsenal supporters to post tongue-in-cheek messages that he has dropped a hint over his intentions.

A supporter noticed that the midfielder’s most recently liked tweet on his official account was a message from a user with an Arsenal crest as his profile picture.

The original tweet was from Goal, and said: “Thomas Partey is going to be a star.”

And the fan quote retweeted it, with the caption: “Going to be? He’s already a star,” to which Partey responded by liking it.
