Arsenal morning headlines as Arteta faces big Ozil decision and Leverkusen eye Gunners transfer

The new Premier League season is almost upon us for Arsenal and their top flight rivals.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are now preparing for the first game of the new league season, with Arsenal making the short trip across to west London to face newly-promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Arsenal will go into the game boosted by winning the Community Shield against Liverpool on penalties in the curtain-raiser to the new season, with the Gunners looking to get off to a victorious start in the Premier League.

But ahead of the game, there continues to be plenty of news and transfer rumours, with less than one month remaining in the summer transfer window for the Gunners and their rivals.

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Monday, September 7.

Ozil to start at Fulham?

When Mesut Ozil did not feature in any of Arsenal’s matches following the restart, it was widely assumed he would be leaving the club this summer.

The player himself had other ideas though. With 12 months remaining on his contract, the German stated his desire to see out the remainder of his deal.

And after starting in the Gunners’ 3-2 pre-season defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, Ozil could be in line for a surprise inclusion at Craven Cottage when Arsenal get their 2020/21 campaign underway.

Fulham vs. Arsenal kicks off at 12:30 on Saturday, and is the first game in the Premier League this season.
