Arsenal fans plead for Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey transfers after Aston Villa defeat

Arsenal supporters have called for two more incoming transfers this summer.

The Gunners lost 3-2 at home to Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, and although Mikel Arteta is unlikely to be overly concerned, some fans have called for further additions.

Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey were at the forefront of most of those requests, despite the pair playing in similar positions for Lyon and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Aouar, 22, has impressed over the past three seasons in Ligue 1, while Partey, 27, is a Champions League regular under Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital.

One fan posted a mocked up image of two Arsenal shirts featuring the names of Partey and Aouar on the back.

Another said in response: “We play Liverpool in around 3 weeks. We can’t go into that game without them.”

A second added: Yes boss! We need to motivate Arsenal to get the transfer targets over the line.

“The days of deadline deals are long gone!! You want a target? Then, go get them!”

A third continued: “Nah fr we need Partey.

“We could definitely do with Aouar but Partey is world class and will completely change our team.”

With a fourth concluding: “Arsenal Football Club should liquidate with immediate effect if we’re not able to sign either Partey or Aouar this transfer window.”

Arteta said of his transfer plans before bringing in Willian and Gabriel: “We have to put a plan [in place] to improve our squad, that’s first, fulfil the ambitions that we have, have the right players to support the talented young players that we have.
