Arsenal could lose FA Cup hero Emiliano Martinez for £20million after Bernd Leno return

Arsenal are reportedly willing to listen to offers for £20million-rated goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer.

The 27-year-old deputised brilliantly for Bernd Leno after he was injured shortly after Project Restart, helping the Gunners win the FA Cup.

But with Mikel Arteta’s No. 1 back up to full fitness, Martinez is likely to stand down and could now even be sold.

According to The Athletic, the departed Raul Sanllehi wanted £20m for the Argentine stopper.

But Martinez himself wants the club to recognise his decade long loyalty and hopes they will reduce their asking price to closer to £10m.

The keeper feels he has still a lot to offer the game and even has his sights on the No. 1 jersey for his country.

He told Argentine radio station Continental last month: “I have shown the club that I can play for them and when I return next season, I need to have more games.

“That is the only way I will stay at Arsenal.”

“My target is to consolidate my place with Arsenal and to become the Argentina No1.

“I won’t stop until I get that and if I don’t play for Arsenal, then clearly, I would move on.”

Martinez has two years remaining on his current deal, and is believed to earn £20,000-a-week.

His representatives have been actively looking into securing him fresh terms but it now looks like this will not happen.

A number of clubs in England and Spain are reportedly tracking Martinez, with Valencia and Real Betis already having registered their interest.
