Liverpool face anxious wait on injury front ahead of Community Shield clash vs Arsenal

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnould could miss Saturday’s Community Shield clash against Arsenal.

The Gunners take on the Premier League champions at Wembley in the season’s traditional curtain-raiser.

Mikel Arteta’s side ran out victorious when the two teams met in the Premier League after lockdown, with Reiss Nelson and Alexandre Lacazette securing a 2-1 win on July 15.

Six weeks later and the two sides meet again at the start of the 2020/21 campaign, with both sides having little over a month to prepare since their final Premier League fixture.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson missed the run-in of their season with a knee problem but Klopp has confirmed the skipper, alongside Xherdan Shaqiri, is fit for the weekend.

Virgil van Dijk has also fully recovered after being substituted with a nasty eye wound in a friendly this week.

There is concern of Alexander-Arnold, though, who will undergo a late fitness test to determine if he will play any part at Wembley.
