Arsenal fans’ bombardment of Gabriel Magalhaes impacted his transfer decision

Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes in the coming days – and the Gunners faithful are said to have played a big part in the signing of the Brazilian.

Arsenal fans have been desperate to see Magalhaes arrive in north London in recent weeks.

And the Telegraph report supporters actually helped when it comes to getting a transfer over the line.

Magalhaes was bombarded with messages from Arsenal fans, making him feel wanted at the Emirates, which prompted his decision.

Manchester United, Everton and Napoli all moved for the Lille man to no avail over the summer.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport report Mikel Arteta helped massively in the negotiations after the Gunners boss ‘stunned’ Magalhaes with his insistence that the Emirates was the place for him.

And Brazilian publication UOL also state Arsenal transfer chief Edu knows about the player due to him time as Brazil director before joining his former club.

Magalhaes has arrived in the UK and will sign a five-year deal worth €2m (1.8m) after tax.

But Arteta insists a deal is not done just yet.

“Regarding Gabriel we can’t announce anything yet, the deal is not finalised,” he said this week.

“You all know that he is a player that we follow for a long time and hopefully we can get it done.

“Everything is OK when both parties sign, the club and the player agrees the terms and he goes through the medical.
