Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is planning talks with Arsenal target Philippe Coutinho next week, according to Marca.
Lionel Messi’s potential departure from Barcelona has dominated the headlines of late, but Coutinho’s move away from the Nou Camp looks just as likely, with Arsenal thought to be among the clubs interested.
And the latest update about the Brazilian’s future is surely music to the ears of Gunners’ fans, who are hoping that a deal for the playmaker can be done.
The report from Spain claims that Coutinho, who was described as ‘world-class’ by Arjen Robben (Bleacher Report), is going to tell Koeman that he wants to move back to the Premier League next week, with a face to face meeting between the pair planned.
Marca claims that Arsenal have already asked about the creative talent, but there are no guarantees that a deal will be possible.
Coutinho’s asking price is prohibitive, with Barca wanting £71 million for the attacking midfielder.
Arsenal are now operating on a sell to buy basis, and are unlikely to raise the sort of funds required to buy Coutinho outright.
