Arsenal receive Thiago Alcantara boost as Bayern Munich chief offers Liverpool confirmation

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Liverpool are yet to contact Bayern Munich about Thiago Alcantara.

The midfielder is set to leave Bayern this summer as he seeks a new challenge with just a year left on his contract in Germany.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool but, speaking to Bild, Rummenigge revealed that he had yet to hear any contact from Anfield over the 29-year-old.

Despite that, the Bayern chairman seems resigned to letting the Spaniard leave, revealing that their post-match celebrations after winning the Champions League took on an extra significance for the player.

He said: “We always read a lot about Liverpool, but they haven’t contacted us yet.

“Yesterday we had the appointment with our employees and his whole family was there and they wandered around the square in great nostalgia (in the Allianz Arena), I would almost say.
