RB Leipzig took a brutal dig at former player Timo Werner and his new club Chelsea, after they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
Werner was at Wembley for the final and watched on as a magnificent brace from Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sank Chelsea’s hopes of lifting the trophy.
The German was spotted on his phone towards the end of the game and Leipzig suggested Werner was having second thoughts about his move to Stamford Bridge, tweeting a picture suggesting he was messaging them.
Werner has joined up with Frank Lampard’s squad after completing a bumper £47.5m switch from Leipzig.
He took part in his first training session earlier this week and his Chelsea team-mate Olivier Giroud has claimed he wants to give Lampard a “complex situation when it comes to making his selection” despite the money spent on Werner.
“Werner’s arrival is an additional motivation and it was inevitable that the club recruit a striker,” the Frenchman said. “Chelsea are a great club, which spends money to strengthen the team, and I was expecting someone to come.

Timo Werner was spotted on his phone during the game
“With Ziyech and Werner, Chelsea will try to be more competitive. If you had told me that it was a player of my profile who was coming, I would have been worried. It is not.
“As other teams play in a compact way against us, it’s not bad to have a big, a fulcrum that can make the link. But I’m not naive: Werner didn’t arrive to sit on the bench.
“I’ll do everything so that Lampard finds himself in a complex situation when it comes to making his selection.”
