Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has warned his players that they will be ‘starting from zero’ when they return to training on Tuesday ahead of the FA Cup final with Chelsea on Saturday.
Arsenal beat Watford 3-2 on the final day of the Premier League season ahead of their Wembley showpiece, but Arteta was not impressed with certain aspects of the performance.
The Spaniard has rested some of his players in recent weeks but he was giving little away in regards to his FA Cup final line up.
“We are back at training on Tuesday and everybody will have to earn their place form zero – and even more so after today.” he said.
“It will be a completely different game [against Chelsea]. First of all from the mental side it will be equal how much they want it and how much we want it.
“I don’t think that was the case today because of the necessity they had, the way they had to go to the game was different to ours.
“Normally you can see that when you don’t have the ball. Hopefully it will be different.”
Shkodran Mustafi injured his hamstring in Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City a week ago and Arteta has confirmed it’s not good news.

“It looks really nasty,” said Arsenal’s head coach. “He pulled the tendon off the bone in his hamstring and that’s normally a lot of weeks.”
When asked if that means he will miss the start of the 2020/21 campaign, which gets underway on September 12, Arteta added: “Yes, he will.”
Arteta has already lost Calum Chambers and Pablo Mari to long-term injuries since he arrived at the club in December.
