Good afternoon and welcome to football.london ‘s live coverage of Mikel Arteta ‘s post-match press conference after Arsenal ‘s 3-2 win over Watford.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored an early penalty and Kieran Tierney hit his first goal in an Arsenal shirt to put the Gunners in control early at the Emirates Stadium, albeit in a game where they continually looked vulnerable to Watford.
Victory seemed to be assured for Arsenal when Aubameyang’s acrobatic overhead kick put the Gunners 3-0 up but familiar defensive woes added tension to what ought to have been a comfortable win.
David Luiz conceded his fifth penalty of the season, fouling Danny Welbeck after a Rob Holding error, to give Watford hope before the interval whilst no-on in the defence covered themselves in glory when Welbeck converted Ismaila Sarr’s cross to make it 3-2.
Had it not been for Emiliano Martinez’s heroics in goal Arsenal could have slipped to their 11th league defeat of the season but the Gunners held on for three points that ensured they leapfrogged from 10th to eighth in the final Premier League table.
