Midfielder Joseph Willock is hopeful that Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will extend his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The striker is out-of-contract with the Gunners at the end of next season, meaning he could soon be available on a free-transfer if he has not put pen to paper on a new deal before he reaches the final six months of his current deal.
Another avenue, of course, that could see Aubameyang leave the North London club is if Arsenal receive a transfer offer for him this summer that is too good to turn down.
A whole host of clubs have been heavily linked with plotting a move for the former Borussia Dortmund man this summer, including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, Madrid’s chances of signing Aubameyang appear slim, with the club having been heavily impacted in a financial sense by the coronavirus pandemic.
Nevertheless, Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta, who has masterminded victories over Liverpool and Manchester City in Arsenal’s last two outings, has reiterated his confidence that Aubameyang will put pen to paper on a new deal.
That is an opinion shared by Aubameyang’s teammate Willock, who insists he is happy at the club and would love him to stay.

“Auba’s an amazing guy,” Willock said. “He’s our captain but not only that, he’s a massive, massive player for us. I don’t really know what’s going with all that stuff but, I love to play with him, he’s an amazing guy.
“Hopefully he does stay with the club. He looks happy.”
Since joining Arsenal for a then-club-record fee in January 2018, Aubameyang has proven to be one of the Premier League’s best players, scoring 66 goals in 106 games for the Gunners in all competitions.
