Arsenal fans have expressed their sadness on social media with Santi Cazorla not returning to the club this summer.
Cazorla is something of a cult hero at the Emirates having impressed during his time with the Premier League giants.
He left the Gunners in 2018 and returned to Villarreal though has now left the Spanish club with many hoping he would return to Arsenal.
One fan had posted on Twitter: “Santi Cazorla needs to return to Arsenal as a player/coach. Would be a great coach for your young gunners. Plus, let’s give him the farewell he deserves at retirement.”

While ahead of his final match with Villareal, one had put: “Villarreal have confirmed tomorrow will be Santi Cazorla’s final game for the club. Come back home Santi.”
Though it’s not to be with Cazorla heading to Qatari champions Al-Sadd, where his former Spain team-mate Xavi is in charge.
And the news that Cazorla won’t be moving back to north London has left some Gunners fans gutted.

One simply wrote: “Cazorla not returning to Arsenal” followed by two sad emojis.
With another adding: “Santi Cazorla’s going Qatar and he’s gonna be playing under Xavi. So the Cazorla homecoming I was hoping for isn’t going to happen.”
Following his last game for Villarreal, Cazorla himself said: “I’m eternally grateful to this club and the fans for having opened the doors to me and for all the love they’ve shown me for so long.
