Good evening and welcome to football.london’s live coverage of Mikel Arteta’s pre-match press conference ahead of his first north London derby as Arsenal head coach.
The Gunners will be heading into this one with a point to prove not just because they face Tottenham Hotspur, but to bounce back from the frustrating draw against Leicester City on Tuesday [July 7] and regain footing in the race for Champions League qualification.
Currently, Arteta’s side are eighth in the Premier League on 50 points, two behind sixth placed Wolves and five off fifth placed Manchester United who play their game in hand tonight [July 9].
Although focus will be on the match, Arteta is expected to be quizzed on whether William Saliba will be able to feature for Saint-Etienne in their Coupe de France final. The deadline for a decision was July 9 and if one is not made, he will not be able to play for Les Verts on July 24.
Reports have kept linking Matteo Guendouzi with a move away from the club so the boss will also be expected to answer questions on that situation, as well as whether the FA have responded to the club’s appeal in regard to Eddie Nketiah’s sending off against Leicester.
