Arsenal are set to submit a bid to sign Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu, according to reports in the Netherlands.
The 21-year-old, who has scored three goals and registered six assists in 35 appearances this season, has been hailed as one of the best young midfielders in the Eredivisie.
According to Voetbal International, Feyenoord’s technical director Frank Arnesen is open to selling Kokcu in order to raise the budget for new signings.
The report claims that Arsenal have been considering a move for Kokcu ‘for a long time’ and are now expected to make an offer ‘within a few weeks’
It’s also claimed that Mikel Arteta is supporting Arsenal’s push to sign Kokcu as he has been aware of the midfielder since his time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The report also claims that Arteta views Kokcu as a player who fits in with his ‘philosophy’. However, Arsenal are set to face strong competition from Sevilla for the midfielder.
Monchi, Sevilla’s director of football, has already travelled to the Netherlands to hold talks with Kokcu’s representatives.
