Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he held a secret meeting with Unai Emery after both were sacked by Premier League clubs.
Pochettino and Emery were sacked by Tottenham and Arsenal respectively within ten days of each other in November last year.
Neither are yet to earn a new role though Pochettino has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle with a takeover of the Magpies nearing.
And though the pair were rivals, both in charge in north London, they had a secret meeting alongside Pochettino’s assistant Jesus Perez.
“Before the pandemic, me and Jesus met with Unai for a coffee, to talk and share our experiences,” Pochettino told the Guardian.

“We were working in different clubs, we were at the enemy, and people were walking past and saying: ‘Unai and Pochettino and Jesus are now sharing a coffee!’
“It was in Cockfosters [in north London]. It was very funny.
“It has been an amazing time to review and analyse everything: training sessions, games, our methodology, our models of training … to design specific and collective works.

“And, of course, to try to adapt for the new normality, to be ready for any eventuality, because the demands are going to be completely different.”
Pochettino and his family remain in London despite his dismissal from Tottenham six months ago.
And the Argentine, who has previously been linked with a role at Real Madrid, has opened up on where his future lies.
