Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock thanks Paul Merson for ‘pulling him up’ after pacemaker fitting

Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock has thanked Paul Merson for questioning his drinking habits.

The enigmatic duo were left in an aggressive disagreement during the filming of Harry’s Heroes: Euro Having a Laugh, in which a string of former England internationals try to get fit before a exhibition match against Germany.

As with the first series, the actions of Merson and Ruddock got the most engagement from viewers, with one incident seeing the ex-professionals almost coming to blows in a row over drinking.

The former Liverpool defender said on the show: “I’ve just had a barney with Merse. We love each other. We’ve known each other since we were 16.

“It’s all right if it’s people you don’t really know telling you ‘do this, do that’, but when it comes from someone you love, that’s why it hurts so much. It got to me.”

The old foes have now got together on Instagram to rekindle their friendship, with Ruddock backing the actions of Merson and thanking him for his concern.

Ruddock said: “We had a lovers tiff and I know the way you are you’d be sitting back going ‘Oh I shouldn’t have done anything’.

“But looking back I want to thank you for pulling me up and having a go at me.
