Three ways Arsenal can line up with Odsonne Edouard if he completes summer transfer

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is the latest name being linked with a summer transfer to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has been in superb form for the Scottish champions this season.

He has scored 27 goals, weighed in with a further 19 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions and football.london understands that the Gunners have extensively scouted him over the course of the campaign.

Although, the north London outfit are not alone when it comes to interest in the Frenchman.

Manchester United have also been linked with Edouard whilst Celtic attempt to tie their top scorer to fresh terms with his current contract due to expire in 2022.

An immediate move for Edouard could be dependant on what happens to a pair of Arsenal strikers this summer as the forward could be brought in as a replacement or to provide competition in the attack.

Should this happen then head coach Mikel Arteta will have a big selection dilemma on his hands. So how could the Gunners line up with the Frenchman in the squad?

Aubameyang’s replacement

Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter Milan are just some of the clubs being linked with his signature.

Make no mistake about it, Arteta will have a huge problem on his hands if Aubameyang is not a member of his squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

This is where Edouard could be a like-for-like replacement for the Gabon international.

Yes the Frenchman plays most of his football as the central striker, but last season he had stints on the flanks for Celtic and it’s a role that Aubameyang has done very well in since Arteta’s appointment.

In this system, Edouard would be cutting in from the left and looking to link up with compatriot Alexandre Lacazette who will be battling it out with Eddie Nketiah to lead the line next season.

In a dream scenario for Arsenal fans, Aubameyang signs a new deal this summer and Edouard arrives to dislodge Lacazette from the centre-forward role.

With his goalscoring record this season – albeit being in Scotland – the Frenchman would have a strong argument to start ahead of the Gunners no.9 who has also been linked with a summer exit.

This setup is one of two ways to get Edouard and Aubameyang in the same side using Arteta’s…
