Luiz and Mari in defence, Aubameyang up top, no Lacazette: Arsenal lineup fans want vs West Ham

Arsenal fans are calling on Mikel Arteta to start Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the central striker for the Gunners’ clash with West Ham this weekend.

The Gunners host David Moyes’ Hammers at the Emirates Stadium in a London derby, with both sides in need of the points for different reasons.

Arsenal will be hoping to claim all three points to maintain their late push up the table in a bid to qualify for European football next season, while West Ham are only outside the bottom three on goal difference, despite a win against Southampton last weekend.

But Arteta has some decisions to make when it comes to the team he selects for the game, with a much-changed Arsenal side progressing to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win against League One Portsmouth on Monday.

Eddie Nketiah and Sokratis Papastathopoulos were both on target at Fratton Park, but there is no room for either player in the most popular XI picked by Arsenal fans for the game against West Ham.

Two of our writers at football.london picked the teams they would select for the game and we gave you – the fans – the chance to pick the line up you want to see in north London this weekend.

And only four players who started on the south coast on Monday are included in the most popular team picked by the fans.

In the middle of the park, fans want to see Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos and Mesut Ozil make up a midfield trio, while Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are included alongside Martinelli in the front three the fans want to see.

But Arsenal’s top scorer Aubameyang, who has been playing on the left in recent weeks, is in the central striker position picked by supporters, with Martinelli on the left and Pepe on the right of the front three, and no place for Alexandre Lacazette.
