Every word Mikel Arteta just said on Bukayo Saka, Olympiacos atmosphere and Europa League win

Pleased with the character?

“It’s tough to come to a stadium like this away in Europe and come away with a win. There are a few lessons within that game for us, and some great things for our development as well as a team. The first 10, 15 minutes we suffered because we did not do the things that we talked about and the execution on the simple things was poor. We had the situations to break them and run after them and we kept giving simple balls away. In many moments it did not allow us to have the continuity to travel with the ball and play in the opposition half more.”

Three clean sheets – what have you changed?

“We tell them they have to enjoy defending as well, it is a big part of the game and like tonight if you give simple balls way you better run back and get that ball back as quickly as possible. But they play with a big heart, I see a lot of big efforts that a team, instead of splitting it just joins together really quickly.

What are your chances in second leg?

“I don’t know, what I knew because I look at all the stats as well of how they’ve performed at home in the last two year and it’s very impressive so I knew it was going to be very tough. It’ll be a different game at the Emirates, obviously scoring away from home is very positive but the tie is completely open.”

We talk a lot about Bukayo Saka. Ninth assist, always seems to find his man when crossing. How rare a gift is that?

“Absolutely, I’m really pleased (with) the way he’s developed. I think he’s really pleased the way he’s handling this situation because there’s a lot of highlights on him at the moment but he’s really humble. He’s always asking questions, meeting with my assistants and willing to improve. He’s a great kid and he’s very brave. He makes big decisions in the final third, he doesn’t hide and he’s got the vision and the ability to execute in spaces that are really tight which is a big gift.

How was the atmosphere and did it affect your players?

“Incredible atmosphere. I think you guys should be very proud of what you have because we have incredible atmospheres in the UK but this is at least as good or even better. It…
