Just two more days remain until Arsenal are back in action.
It feels like an eternity since the Gunners drew 0-0 against Burnley – their 13th stalemate in the Premier League this season – but on Sunday they host Newcastle United.
The two teams met on the opening weekend of the campaign as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second half goal proved to be the difference at St James’ Park.

That remains one of six wins the north London outfit have managed in the league this season and that rather poor record is one of the reasons why they are 10 points off the Champions League spots.
In a bid to get the squad firing again, head coach Mikel Arteta took his side to Dubai for a spot of warm-weather training and will be hoping to reap the benefits when the Magpies visit the capital
With that said, here’s all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.
Pape Gueye transfer hint
Pape Gueye has got Arsenal supporters excited after messaging Matteo Guendouzi on social media.
The Le Havre midfielder is reportedly one of the Gunners’ summer targets, and reports in France claim the club are in advanced talks to sign the 21-year-old.
And ahead of a potential summer move, some Arsenal fans believe a deal is close after spotting the midfielder’s activity on Instagram.
Guendouzi, who was in Dubai with the rest of the squad for some warm weather training this week, posted a picture of himself.
Gueye replied, writing ‘Guendouzzzz!’ along with a couple of emojis.
This got some supporters excited, with one posting: ‘Pape Gueye commenting on Guendouzi’s post… it’s written in the stars,’ while another tweeted: ‘Guendouzi is Arsenal’s best recruiter by far. Saliba, Upamecano, Pape Gueye.’
Dayot Upamecano is a long-time target for Arsenal.
Last summer there was talk of a swap deal involving Emile Smith Rowe, but in the end the Gunners had a bid – thought to be in the region of £50million – rejected by RB Leipzig who were said to be holding out for a fee close to the defender’s release clause of £82m.
The 21-year-old was also linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium last month, but a lack of funds meant a deal was always going to be difficult.
But in a boost to Arsenal’s hopes of signing Upamecano in the summer, German outlet Bild has reported that the France defender is refusing to extend his contract at the Red Bull Arena.
His contract expires at the end of next season which means the Bundesliga side will have to cash in on the centre-back this summer or risk losing him for a cut-price fee or on a free transfer in 2021.
Arsenal will have to pay in the region of £50m as according to L’Equipe, Upamecano’s release clause will be reduced from €80million to €60million in the summer.
