Arsenal and Everton are set to battle it out to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez on loan before the January transfer window shuts.
The 28-year-old returned to Spanish capital last summer after two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.
However, after making just 11 appearances for Los Blancos so far this season, Rodriguez now looks surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.
According to reports from Spain via Sports Mole, both Arsenal and Everton are interested in taking the Colombia international on loan.
Rodriguez is believed to be open to a move away from Real Madrid due to his limited amount of first-team football.

Paris-Saint Germain could move for Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if Edinson Cavani leaves the club.
According to FootMercato, the Ligue 1 side want to sign the Gunners’ main striker should Cavani depart, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid also interested.
The 32-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, was left out of PSG’s clash with Strasbourg this weekend due to speculation over his future.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, has 18 months left on his current contract which could force Arsenal to sell him in the summer if fresh terms can’t be agreed.
