Arsenal’s brief winning streak came to a halt against Crystal Palace at the weekend, where a 1-1 draw saw ramifications inflicted for the coming weeks due to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s red card.
With the Gunners without their top scorer and still struggling to find consistency at both ends of the field, it is clear that there is plenty of work ahead of Mikel Arteta.
The Spaniard has at least provided a boost to the North London side but, with a top-four finish looking out of reach, he may need to dip into the transfer market this month.
As such, plenty of rumours are floating around the Gunners regarding both incoming and outgoing deals, so we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.

Mertens rejects transfer
Napoli star Dries Mertens has rejected an exit from the Italian side to join West Ham amid reports of Arsenal’s interest, according to reports cited by The Daily Star.
The Belgium international sees his contract at the Stadio San Paolo expire at the end of the season and looks set to leave on a free transfer – but a number of clubs were linked with a move this month.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move but it appears West Ham made a rather optimistic first move for the 32-year-old.
Despite the interest from the Premier League, Mertens is likely to remain in Italian football as it is reported he will join Inter Milan on a free transfer this summer.
Atletico eye Lacazette
Atletico Madrid have turned their attention towards Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window, according to Marca.
Diego Simeone’s side were expected to complete a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this month but the French champions closed the door on a deal, as they do not want to sell to a direct Champions League rival.
As such, Atletico have reignited their interest in Lacazette and the report claims they could offer the striker’s France compatriot Thomas Lemar to sweeten a deal.
However, with Aubameyang facing a suspension, Arsenal cannot afford to let Lacazette leave anytime soon but their stance could change towards the end of a month.

Mikel Arteta has been linked with a move for the Germany World Cup winner to bolster his defensive line but there were suggestions that AC Milan will look to beat them in the chase.
However, Longo says that Boateng is not an option for the San Siro outfit and, while there isn’t a specific reason stated, it’s likely his mammoth wages have something to do with it.
