David Luiz has told Arsenal fans that the dressing room is ready to fight to bring Mikel Arteta’s ideas to life after beating Manchester United 2-0 on New Year’s Day.
The crowd at the Emirates Stadium sounded their appreciation for the players as they took Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side apart with goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
However, the score line could have been far more generous to the Gunners given the number of chances they created to open up their opponents, and it wasn’t just the creativity of the home side that impressed.

Alexandre Lacazette pressed United goalkeeper David De Gea while Mesut Ozil was a thorn in the side of the away team’s midfielders as he recovered the ball and closed players down.
Speaking in a post-match interview with BT Sport, David Luiz told fans that the players are determined to put in the hard work to help Arteta make his methods stick.
“To fight we are ready,” he said. “Not with all the guns but to fight we are ready.
“I think I said it last week that Mikel is a great coach. He knows football. He was a great player. He brings things where I believe in his philosophy and I think he can improve every single player.
“And in life when you are happy the results can be totally different. I think I always like to use the metaphor that if you sleep happy you can sleep for hours, but if you sleep sad, just for eight hours.
“So if you work with happiness and you work with believing in what you are doing it is totally different so I am happy with everybody but you need to understand our season is not there.”

David Luiz also admitted that Arsenal face an uphill struggle in the Premier League due to their bad results early in the season under Unai Emery.
With the Gunners still in the FA Cup and through to the knock out stages of the Europa League, the Brazilian has not given up on winning something before the summer.
“We didn’t start very well,” he said. “We start very bad, I have to be honest. But things can change and there is still some titles to fight for and an improvement for the team and in the future.”
