Arsenal great Alan Smith has delivered his verdict on Unai Emery’s sacking at his former club.
The Gunners confirmed that they had parted company with the Spaniard on Friday morning, with Freddie Ljungberg placed in temporary charge while a permanent replacement is sought.
Emery has been under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season and leaves the north London club eight points off the Champions League places.
And Smith believes that the Arsenal board deserve credit for acting so decisively, as well as highlighting Emery’s lack of English as a ‘major factor’ as to why he struggled at the club.
