How Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs will be affected by the 2022 Qatar World Cup as Fifa confirm date

It is now three years until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar gets underway, by which point the talk should be around the football rather than the mess of hosting the tournament in the winter.

FIFA have confirmed that the tournament will get underway on November 21st 2022, having ignored claims from major European leagues, including the Premier League, that a winter tournament would not be desirable.

The tournament will last just 28 days, making it the shortest World Cup since 1978, and the final will take place on December 18th – with the Premier League due to return just eight days later for the annual Boxing Day fixtures.
