Roy Hodgson pays Arsenal and Mauricio Pochettino the ultimate compliment

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that he has a “certain element of jealousy” when it comes to the spending power of other clubs in the Premier League.

The Palace boss marked two years with the Eagles earlier this week, during which time Hodgson has guided the south London club to 11 and 12 in the top flight, having taken over with Palace rock bottom of the Premier League with no points and no goals from the first four games of the 2017/18 season.

But in his time at the club, Palace have only spent close to £25million in transfer fees for new players, with Cheikhou Kouyate the most expensive of those signings, when he arrived at the club from West Ham for around £9.5million in the summer of 2018.
