Emiliano Martinez is convinced he can overhaul Bernd Leno and establish himself as Arsenal’s No.1 goalkeeper.
The Argentine has begun the season as Leno’s understudy and is yet to make a competitive experience, though that is expected to change when Arsenal begin their involvement in the EFL Cup and Europa League over the coming weeks.
Martinez excelled on loan at Reading in the second half of last season and the Championship club were among several sides from their division to offer him more regular first-team football. However the 27-year-old opted to remain at Arsenal, though he did so on the proviso that he was given a serious opportunity to challenge Leno for a role in Unai Emery’s strongest side.
