Arsenal lined up with £100million worth of striking talent on the pitch in Baku’s Olympic Stadium last night but it was the man they so summarily dispensed with 18 months ago who proved to be the trophy-winning striker they have long craved.
Without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette Arsenal’s season would have a far gloomier complexion than it already does. The pair have a combined tally of 50 goals and 21 assists in all competitions this term.
No other player has provided more than six goals or nine assists. Aubameyang and Lacazette are without question the best and second-best performers for Arsenal this season.
